Richard sees the world in shapes and colour.

With an eye to movement, he gives his twisted metal sculptures warm, vivid colours. His pieces capture disorganized thoughts into a static form, and reflect his optimistic view of the world. This work aims to be cheerful, positive, and inclusive.

As a dyslexic, it has been a challenge for Richard to explain his unique way of seeing the world, so he found a way to express his thoughts in a physical form. He started by using sheet metal. Working with sheet metal gives him the ability to create a variety of shapes and colour in one piece. He is able to bend and cut the material to achieve crisp lines and inviting curves. He applies warm, lively colours to contrast the undisturbed calm of white. In this work, he is able to portray the meaning he is searching for.
